Arrivals with GPS Rings Bourges 27/05/2023
Last preparatory race for the Agen team and possibly also for the Barcelona team. The cocks for Barcelona may still go to Argenton, but that is not yet certain.
Normally, the intention was to basket the pigeons in Vierzon.
Other than that, it is just a matter of speed until they are basketed.
But today it was Bourges, or rather Vierzon, because the release site was not available.
The pigeons were released at 8:00 a.m., with almost a third fewer pigeons than last year nationally.
The severe weather of the past few weeks will certainly have played a role here.
I basketed everything myself, with no pigeons left in the loft except for one that returned on Monday a few weeks ago.
The pigeons came home relatively quickly, but above all fresh. If you compare this with the middle distancee races of the past few weeks, there is a noticeable difference.
The first pigeon was a full sister of “Koen,” 4th national ace pigeon 2021 extreme long distance at Daan Roosen (bred by me.
The second pigeon is a direct descendant of the Van Kerckvoorde family, exchanged in 2022, and currently there are still 4/6 youngsters from this loft here.
The third pigeon was first every week in recent weeks and is a daughter of “De Vale” x “Bonte Pau.”
After an hour, 45/72 pigeons were back home. We had to wait a while for the GPS pigeons. One of them arrived in 35th place at 4:25 p.m., 50 minutes after the first pigeon.
It was a two-year-old cock that had worn for the first time (blue curve).
He covered a total distance of 537 km compared to the 482 km in a straight line and did not rest or drink.
The others arrived later at 5:50 p.m. and the last GPS pigeon at 7:14 p.m.
The one with the red curve took two short breaks of a few minutes, the first around Farivillers at 12:07 p.m. and the second around Arras at 2:01 p.m.
It covered a total distance of 530 km.
The green one was a different story. It drifted all the way to the coast and ended up in the marina at 1:08 p.m., where it stayed for 1 hour and 36 minutes before taking off again.
The pigeons were clearly blown aside by the NE wind and are coming back in around the region where they came in in recent weeks.
If you see where the two national victories are today and see where the GPS pigeons come through… then you still need good pigeons, but it does help if you are in the flying line.
There are still 3 old ones missing from the loft, of which 1 important one… I hope he will still come.
