GPS youngsters (ENG)

How do the young pigeons fly?

For the old pigeons, the GPS information for 2023 is almost complete. If we still participate in Argenton, we will do something about it, just like the intermediate flights from Quievrain for the Agen and Barcelona team.
We will not be wearing rings at the internationals themselves. The pigeons undoubtedly have a negative effect with the GPS ring, even if it is only the extra 5 grams they take with them.

Well the young pigeons… where do they hang out and what do they do. That was initially the reason I purchased the GPS rings.
We have put on the rings several times over the past few weeks.
The oldest youngsters have now just passed 100 days, the youngest are approaching 80 days old.
Time to start learning them gradually.

If we look at their first steps with GPS rings at the beginning of this month, you can clearly see that they were not moving away properly yet.
It was only for a shorter period each time.

Since we were going to start training them in early June, I gave them a tricho treatment in mid-May, and you could tell they needed it.
Their training times were increased, and they’re spending longer periods in other areas.

May 24, 2023 = yellow: they cover 43km, 25-minute distance.
May 25, 2023 = red: they cover 145km, first short loop 20 minutes, second loop 55 minutes.
May 26, 2023 = green: they cover 63km, 35-minute distance.

Hopefully they can keep this up for a while and we can start training them.
