It has been a while since I last posted an update on how things are going.
I must say, I don’t have enough time to keep up with everything. The website, responding to messages, emails, social media, etc…
Pigeon racing takes a lot of time 🙂
So, here is another message to let you know that the season is over here, except for a group of younger birds.
Some of them have already raced 3x 111 km and 1x 320 km, and a small group (about 12) still have to start.
The group that has already raced four times is not returning home as it should. In fact, from the first flight, in which 26 pigeons participated, they returned home in small groups or alone. Four out of 26 did not return, which in itself is not a bad loss for a first time. The remaining 22 managed to return home the next two times, always spread over an entire day.
Last week, they made the step up to 320 km and it was the same story… spread over a whole day, with 19/22 returning home and one reported in the Netherlands.
This weekend, no races over 250 km are allowed in Belgium, so they will be at home for a week.
Let’s see if they can handle the next flight from Toury. They are already molting heavily, so we’ll have to wait and see how long they can keep going.
