Time to evaluate the 2025 racing season
On an autumn day like today and yesterday, it is ideal weather to reflect on the 2025 flying season and update the pedigrees.
2025 was a year that was bound to be less successful than 2024. Surpassing that was virtually impossible. Although the team did miss out on opportunities in Agen, where Antwerp had the advantage (to be fair).
Nevertheless, we can look back with satisfaction on the 2025 season, in which several good pigeons and almost certain good prize winners for Barcelona were lost, although certainty is a limited concept when you consider that “De Rooie 706” was lost on his 5th Barcelona. On top of that, “Het Dakzitterke” was put into breeding at the end of 2024, and you can see that the losses, combined with the decision to put pigeons into breeding, left their mark on Barcelona.
Fortunately, “De Kleine Blauwe” was able to confirm his performance as a yearling with a 4th provincial Barcelona, 23rd national.
The two brothers “De Schicht” and “Victor,” winners of the KBDB 2024 national championship for yearlings, also confirmed their good performances. At Agen, they fell short of the early prizes (Agen is perhaps not tough enough for one’s pigeons), but at Narbonne, they were back in the top 100 nationally.
A full sister won 3rd with a 156th national Narbonne, making it 3/3 and first fancier in Belgium with the first 3 entries home.
Conclusion… it could be much worse…
Although this year’s crop of yearlings fell short, hopefully we will have a better crop next year.
Balance 2025, 43% prize nationally and 52% provincially, with 3 races Agen-Barcelona-Narbonne and 65 pigeons entered in these races..
